Adjusting Network Settings on Android
Most Android phones configure automatically when activated.
If you’re having issues with data, picture messaging (MMS), or connecting to the network, follow the steps below.
Restart First
Before changing any settings:
- Power your phone off completely.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Turn it back on.
If service doesn’t restore, continue below.
Reset Network Settings
Resetting network settings often resolves activation or data issues.
Steps may vary slightly depending on device model.
- Open Settings
- Tap System
- Tap Reset Options
- Select Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth
- Confirm reset
This will not delete photos, apps, or files.
It will remove saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth connections.
Restart your phone after the reset.
Check Mobile Data Is Enabled
- Open Settings
- Tap Network & Internet
- Tap SIMs or Mobile Network
- Make sure Mobile Data is turned on
If it’s already on, toggle it off and back on.
Select the Correct Network Mode
- Open Settings
- Tap Network & Internet
- Tap Mobile Network
- Select Preferred Network Type
- Choose 5G/4G/LTE (Auto)
This allows your phone to connect to the strongest available signal.
APN Settings (If Data or MMS Isn’t Working)
If mobile data or picture messages still aren’t working, you may need to update your APN (Access Point Name) settings.
- Open Settings
- Tap Network & Internet
- Tap Mobile Network
- Tap Access Point Names (APN)
- Add a new APN
Use the following settings:
Name: Switch
APN: [Insert official APN here]
MMSC: [Insert official MMSC]
MMS Proxy: [Insert if applicable]
MMS Port: [Insert if applicable]
APN Type: default,supl,mms
Leave all other fields unchanged unless instructed.
Save the APN and select it as active.
Restart your phone.
